Comoros Islands
Located in a strategic position at the northern end of the Mozambique Channel, the Comoro archipelago consists of four major islands: Ngazidja, Mwali, Nzwani, and Mayotte (Maore). In 1997, the islands of Mwali and Nzwani both declared themselves independent of the Federal Islamic Republic of the Comoro Islands. Since then Mwali has returned to the Republic and, currently, Nzwani is undergoing talks with the Republic.

Mutsamudu
This is the capital and port of Anjouan. Whales are regular visitors to the bay and the island is one of only two places where the rare king size bat and Living Stone’s flying fox can be sighted. Read the rest of this entry »

Diving in Comoros
There are two types of diving in Comoros; one on shallow, gently sloping reefs, consisting mainly of hard corals with gullies, cracks and overhangs, where vast schools of smaller reef fish and plenty of interesting reef life is seen. The second type of diving is off the wall. This type of diving entails a boat ride of an hour or two. Dolphins frequently escort the boat to the dive.
