There are four gorilla groups in the mountains that have been habituated for visiting. However, only two groups are currently visited, although this may change. The SUSA group has 32 gorillas and requires a 2-5-hr trek through dense forest. The SABINYO group has 12 gorillas and requires a 1-2 hr walk through bamboo forest. Visits to the SUSA group may require an earlier start check locally Enthusiasts recommend visits to both groups (each needs a permit) as they emphasize the experience is quite different with each.
