Kahuzi-Biega National Park
Kahuzi-Biega National Park is located between Bukavu and Goma, smack in the middle of the hot-bed of the Rwandan invasion and occupation of the Kivu provinces of the DR Congo. It has suffered greatly, not only from this most recent invasion and occupation, but from the 1996-1997 war that also involved a Rwandan and Ugandan invasion, and the mass influx of 1.5 million Rwandan refugees fleeing the Genocide of 1994 in Rwanda.
