Berenty Private Nature Reserve Madagascar
The up-market Berenty Private Nature Reserve is 56 miles (90 km) west of Taolagnaro and offers comfortable if expensive accommodation if you feel like extending your visit. Forest trails, hordes of ring-tailed lemurs, white sifakas, fruit bats, radiated tortoises, 100 species of birds and 115 plant species, including endemic succulents, the rare triangular palm, euphorbias, baobab trees, and carnivorous pitcher plants, make this reserve one of Madagascar’s top attractions for tourists. The reserve is a fascinating floral and faunal frontier between the moist east coast and the arid south and is one of the best protected and most studied forests in Madagascar. Zombitse National Park
This reserve, situated halfway between Toliara and Isalo, 25 kilometres northeast of Sakaraha, is home to what may be one of the world’s rarest birds, Appert’s Greenbul. The forest within the park is also a good place to see butterflies.

Marojejy National Park
The Marojejy National Park lies in a remote northeastern enclave, inland from the island spice capital of Sambava and north of Andapa. For those who really want to get away from the crowds this is the place though few tourists venture in to the dense green rainforest that clothes the mountainsides of the reserve.
